rarely; seldom; hardly; almost; never


Examples:

この辺りでは地震は滅多に起きない

Earthquakes seldom occur in this area.


大学時代の同級生とは滅多に会えない

I can hardly ever see my college classmates.


日本の車は滅多に故障しないので、海外で人気がある。

Because Japanese cars rarely break down, they are popular abroad.
