cannot manage to; just cannot; cannot ~ despite the fact that ~ want to
I've been waiting a long time for a call from an important customer, but it hasn't come, so I cannot leave the office.
Because my successor hasn't been chosen yet, I haven't been able to resign (my current position)
Because I boasted to everyone that I could do it, I cannot pull out now even thou I want to.
I put all the examples along with the meaning into flashcards to study just in case you forget. (I suggest downloading the app version for brainscape) With this you can even study on your phone!
Feel free to use this flash card deck I update regularly.
