supposing; even if; granting that; for argument's sake / temporarily; provisionally; for the time being​


Example:

仮に競馬でたまたま大穴を当てたとしましょう。

Let's suppose you happen to strike it rich at the races.


仮にあなたの近所で火事が起こったら、どうしますか。

If a fire should break out in your neighborhood, what would you do?


仮に突然目が見えなくなったら、どうしますか。

If you became blind suddenly, what would you do?
